                            Description

It doesn’t have a name. The locals simply call it the City. Lilies do not bloom here and the sun does not shine. There is no fresh breeze blowing here and you can’t hear the birds singing.

Josiah Kaviani, a young mathematician and statistician, starts his journey in this underground maze of cramped streets. He is talented and intelligent, but he has one terrible drawback – he is unbearably alone. But soon, Josiah will have a fateful encounter that will turn his whole life and make him break the shell he used to live in. A meeting with someone or, perhaps, something that is hidden in such depths that even the horrific City cannot reach them. Something so secret that the very knowledge of it can be deadly. Something truly monstrous.

                              The world

Many of the technologies used by city dwellers in their daily lives have real prototypes at the implementation or design stage. For example, alternative biotechnologies for synthesizing food, fuel, and building materials; bioluminescent lighting; computing systems using the synthesis of living nerve cells and electronics; biopixel screens, and much more.

The site itself is inspired by the real-life Mir diamond mine and the architectural project of its transformation into a city, as well as the model of a closed ecosystem, Biosphere-2.

Based on these ideas, a huge and complex world was grown, which unique features permeate every part of the game, every illustration and every line of dialogue.

                            Characters

Josiah Kaviani is the protagonist of the story. His powerful analytical mind and methodical approach do nothing to cope with the daunting task of communicating with other people. Trying to survive in the gray underworld, Josiah encounters his greatest weakness: he is drawn into a whirlpool of horrific events that cannot be handled alone.

Polyanna - No story about a young boy can do without a girl. But Polianna is not just a doll for the protagonist’s romantic interests. She is dangerously smart, suspiciously good at social interactions, and full of ideas of her own. But even such an energetic and strong girl is still as fragile and mortal as any other inhabitant of the City.

Anselm Diodato is a born bureaucrat. Anselm wears the mask of a cold-blooded functionary; but from under this mask bursts a flame of devout religious faith. Is this faith not just another mask? What are his true aims and motives? Much trouble awaits anyone who tries to find out. For example, a tedious sermon and an order to stay at work overtime.

Some of the author’s ideas were censored as to be found too dark and cruel…

…but most of them remained.

The name of the team was born from an idea of Egor Efremov for an uncreated 3D quest - the sinister biocorporation “Wirion” behind the events in the game’s universe. The similarity of the corporation’s name to the name of a viral particle, virion, reflects not only its grim nature, but also the contagiousness of its ideas. These ideas was so contagious that we gave this name to the development team when registering on Steam.
